    The ZIM cooperation network GeoFab unites interested partners from industry and science to carry out joint innovation projects.
    The network's vision is to exploit the potential of the already extensive digitization of production processes even better by using additional location information. By means of geoinformation, an intelligent networking of all system elements and actors involved (machines, tools, transport vehicles, products and people) in production and logistics processes is to be enabled. For this purpose, extensive static and dynamic in-house geodata (indoor and outdoor) will be collected and combined with additional sensor data and data from operational application systems. In this way, production processes can be better monitored and faults detected. With this information, it should be possible to react quickly and flexibly to changes in the processes. On the one hand, the flexibility of companies can be increased considerably and, at the same time, measures for process optimization can be derived.

  • LUPO - Performance evaluation of independent production objects

    The Application Center Industry 4.0 was created within the framework of the LUPO project.
    The aim of the LUPO project was to analyse and evaluate the benefits of using modern intelligent and self-communicating hardware and software in production. For this purpose, a hybrid laboratory was developed that combines the advantages of model factories (including a clear representation of the various processes for improved acceptance) and computer simulation (highly flexible representation of various processes). Thus, different scenarios and processes can be configured, simulated and analysed quickly and easily. The integration of real-existing hardware components and the analysis of the effects of their applications is made possible.
    Already during the project the team was active in standardization committees for the improvement of communication between machines, sensors and software, among others in the MES D.A.CH association and the OPC Foundation.

    The project was part of the technology program "Autonomics: Autonomous and simulation-based systems for medium-sized businesses", which was funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) as part of the IT Summit Lighthouse Project "Internet of Things".



  • Aqua-IT-Lab

    Small and medium-sized operators of critical infrastructures are hardly in a position to meet the increasing demands on IT security in the course of networking and integration due to limited resources. The aim of the project is to develop a quick test and to set up a laboratory to map the systems, control and regulation technology, the IT infrastructure and also the corresponding organisation. The focus is on water supply, but an expansion to other sectors is planned in the project. The rapid test allows a rough assessment of the hazard situation. In the laboratory, IT security can be analysed and tested without having to intervene in ongoing operations. In these tests, attacks can be simulated regularly, based on the current state of the art. Recommendations for action are derived from the results of both procedures. The laboratory and the quick test form new approaches to the assessment and enhancement of IT security.



  • MetamoFAB - Metamorphosis to an intelligent and networked factory

    The aim of the joint project is to enable existing companies to metamorphose into intelligent and networked factories. According to the vision of cyber-physical systems (CPS), significant increases in productivity and flexibility can be achieved. In order to ensure the transfer to industry, procedures, models, methods and tools as well as necessary qualification processes for the planning, support and implementation of the transformation to the future CPS factory will be developed across applications and industries, tested in virtual and real laboratory demonstrators and, after successful validation, demonstrated in three real production environments of the industrial partners.



  • PM Seasonal - Performance Measurement to control seasonal effects in supply chains through adaptability

    The aim of the research project was to design a performance measurement system that takes into account the adaptability and individual (re-)action possibilities of companies in seasonal industries. By simulating the effects of different seasonal effects on a production system, the scope for action was examined and design options for dealing with seasonal effects were shown.
